The 30th congress of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) was launched in Hanoi Monday with the participation of 240 representatives from 40 countries.
It is the first time the biennial event is being held in Vietnam.
This year's weeklong event will include FIAP's traditional exhibition displaying 400 works from 60 countries, and a field trip to Hanoi, the northern province of Ninh Binh, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province.
Founded in 1947, FIAP now has 90 member countries.
Vietnam, which joined the organization in 1989, was the 65th member. It has had 141 photographers winning prizes in FIAP contests.
