The first Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition wrapped up in the central town of Hoi An Saturday with Indonesian singers winning the grand prize.
The choir from the Diponenegoro University of Indonesia was chosen from among 30 choirs with nearly 1,000 artists from 11 countries and territories. The festival also honored five other groups, including one from the Vietnam University of Art Education.
All participants in the festival were amateurs.
The four-day event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam Province and Germany based InterKultur organization.
Provincial officials said the festival was a huge success and that they are planning to hold the next one in 2013.
