Idecaf in Ho Chi Minh city will screen Die Polizistin (The Policewoman), a film by German film director Andreas Dresen, on August 2.
Starring Gabriela Maria Schmeide, Axel Prahl and Paul Grubba, the film tells the story of a 27-year-old policewoman who is assigned to take care of the Lutten-Klein area in Rostock City immediately after her graduation in Berlin.
In her first job, she has to carry out boring and routine tasks and work with a bureaucratic state system while there are many burning issues to tackle in the society.
She finds it very difficult to separate her job from her private life, and is stressed by the contradictions that spring up.
This film impresses the audience with a successful combination of filmmaking techniques with real-life documentation of a police unit based in Merklenburg- Vorpommern, Germany.
Gabriela Maria Schmeide, Axel Prahl and Laila Stieler, the script writer, won the Adolf Grimme award in 2001.
