The first in a series of free concerts featuring 20 guitarists from the Hue Academy of Music took place on April 1 at February 3 Park in the Hue former royal citadel in the central province of Thua Thien Hue.

The guitarists lecturers and students at the academy performed 12 masterpieces for guitar, including Tico Tico, Espana Cani, Top of the World, and Domino, in different styles. The free performance attracted hundreds of locals and foreigners despite the heavy rain on the opening day.

According to Le Quang Hung, head of the academy's Vocal - Guitar Department, the orchestra will perform from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Sunday. However, Hung didn't say how long the community music project will last.

Previously, the academy's trumpet orchestra made its debut at Nha Ken in the park. The trumpet concert takes place at 5 p.m. every Saturday.

On April 7 and 8, two bands of contemporary and traditional musicians from the academy will also make their debut performance at Thuong Bac Park near the Perfume River in Hue. The show will take place every Saturday and Sunday.
