On the heels of their recent box office success, Vietnamese film producers will release two films Em hien nhu ma so (Meek sister) and Saigon Yo! (Saigon Electric) in December.
Vietnamese-American director Hoang Thien Tru's Em hien nhu ma so centers around a middle-aged singer and a Buddhist nun who pretend to be sisters in a monastery to escape from a mob of gangsters.
The plot shares more than its fair share of similarities with the American comedy "Sister Act" released in 1992.
American director Stephane Gauger's Saigon Yo! is a musical film about the local hip-hop scene. Traditional arts like silk dance and duo drum beating are also featured in the film.
