An Italian cooking performance will round off the Italian Festival 2010 at the Pomodoro restaurant on Thursday (July 29).
The culinary event is organized by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), the Trade Promotion
Section of the Italian Embassy and Fiordelisi SRL, an Italian company in Puglia, southern Italy, which produces sundried and semidried vegetables, mainly tomatoes.
It is being mooted as an occasion for Vietnamese to enjoy Italian cuisine as well as for Fiordelisi SRL to introduce their products to Vietnamese consumers.
Martino Castellani, head of the Intellectual Property Rights Desk, Italian Trade Commission in Ho Chi Minh City, told Thanh Nien Weekly: "Both Italian and Vietnamese cultures value good food and to some extent our foodstuff, though quite different, can also be complementary. This is one of the reasons why we believe that there is a high potential for the growth of Italian food imports in Vietnam.
"High quality of the ingredients is of paramount importance and Fiordelisi cares for all the various steps of production. We hope that both the local buyers and journalists will be positively impressed and will therefore make the Italian products better known to the local public and more available to it."
The guests joining the event will enjoy a buffet of authentic Italian cuisine including dishes made with Fiordelisi SRL's products like the sundried vegetables and Poponcini cheese.
The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pomodoro restaurant, 79 Hai Ba Trung Street, District 1, HCMC.
