Thanh Nien Newspaper celebrated its 30th birthday on Sunday night with wonderful fashion and musical performances by nearly 200 leading artists from across Vietnam and overseas.
The special event “Hello 30” was a combination of Thanh Nien’s two famous artistic programs “Duyen Dang Vietnam” (Charming Vietnam) and “Khat Vong Tre” (Youth Aspirations).
Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City was crowded with distinguished guests, the newspaper’s staff members and thousands of viewers long before the show started at 8 p.m. Most of the audience members were Thanh Nien’s loyal readers for the past three decades.
“30 nam mai la xuan” (30 years in spring), a song written especially for the occasion, opened the show, followed by an ao dai parade with 30 models and beauty pageant winners. The dresses were designed by Son Collection with images from the first Thanh Nien publications as well as its current various editions.
A different ao dai catwalk paints the stage in festive colors with colorful flowers designed on the dresses.
The musical performances brought emotional responses from the audience, as many singers took the audiences down the memory lane with hits that started their career years ago while others stirred up the stage with youthful and patriotic songs.
Thanh Nien also granted 30 Nguyen Thai Binh scholarships each worth VND5 million (US$223) to students at universities in the city.
For the great success of the event, we are honored to have the presence of Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party’s Central Committee and First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Party Secretary of Da Nang and Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Secretary of the Central Communist Youth Union and Chairman of Vietnam’s Youth Association.
