Hanoi to welcome New Year with 'streets and flowers'

From December 30 to January 2 next year, the capital city administration will welcome the new year with an event called "Hanoi - A destination for streets and flowers."

The event marks "heritage tourism," the theme of the national tourism year.

The event will transform many main locations in the city, including: Dinh Tien Hoang street, monuments and landscapes like the Ly Thai To monument, Hoan Kiem lake, The Huc Bridge and the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc square. Flower decorations will embellish the Royal Thang Long Citadel and the Van Mieu temple.

These locations will host exhibitions featuring diferent themes including Northern Space (lion dancing, floral arrangements, Quan Ho folk songs and flower sellers); Legendary Space (monuments made of fruit, lotus flower exhibition and Dong Son bronze drum); and Heritage Space promoting the heritages of Hue, Quang Nam, and Quang Ninh provinces.

The event will also feature flower arrangement competitions, concerts, dragon dances and traditional games.
