Various documentaries by young Southeast Asian and Vietnamese filmmakers will be screened at the 2013 Mini Doc Fest from March 22 to 24 at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi.
Organized by the Hanoi Documentary Filmmaking and Video Art Center (Hanoi Doclab), the event will start with director Tran Van Thuy's internationally acclaimed 1987 film "Chuyện tử tế" (Story of Kindness). Audiences will have a chance to meet and talk with Thuy after the show.
The 20112 short film "Mùa xuân và Lá»… há»™i" (Spring and Festival) made by Nguyen Van Vinh and edited by Tran Luong will also be screened on the film festival's opening day.
The two movies will take audiences on a journey into Vietnam's past.
On the second day of the festival, a short special program entitled Voices from Myanmar will feature various short films which were screened at the Chopshots Documentary Film Festival last year in Jakarta. The films are said to provide insight into the beauty of Myanmar as well highlighting many other issues of that country.
Another highlight of the day will be the latest productions from the Doclab Basic workshop, which are said to be entertaining and reflective of the spirit of contemporary Vietnamese society.
On the closing day, several documentaries by young freelance Vietnamese filmmakers will be shown after a conference in which the public will have the chance to interact with the filmmakers.
