Hanoi will host a Craft Week in August to promote the city's traditional culture and handicrafts and celebrate its millennial anniversary that falls in October.

The "Thousand years of Quintessence" event will include a conference on development and tourism potentials of craft villages in Hanoi as well as a contest to create gift samples symbolizing Hanoi's 1,000th birthday.

Craftsmen will also demonstrate their skills to the public during the August 4-9 event at the Labor and Friendship Culture Palace in Hanoi.

The event offers handicraft making and trading firms to introduce themselves to foreign importers.
