Hanoi to hold benefit concert for flood victims

The Vietnam Musicians' Association will put on a benefit concert Tuesday (November 2) in Hanoi to raise funds for the provinces in the central region which were hit by this month's terrible floods.

Do Hong Quan, chairman of the association, said hundreds of artists, including popular singers like Thanh Lam, My Linh and Hong Nhung, will join the charity event, which was named La nguoi con dat Viet (As the children of the Vietnamese motherland...).

After the organization's costs and expenses are deducted, all proceeds and donations will be sent to affected provinces where at least 165 people have been listed as dead or missing and more than 400,000 homes were damaged.

The event will take place at the Friendship Cultural Palace at 91 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoan Kiem District.

Tickets are available at the palace and the association's headquarters: 51 Tran Hung Dao Street.

Prices: VND800,000 to 1 million (US$41-51.3).
