Nearly 100 international performers will gather at the imperial citadel in Hanoi for the first international music festival in the capitol's history from October 2- 4.
The Monsoon Music Festival will run from 4-11pm on each of the three days.
The event was jointly-organized by the Ministry of Culture, the municipal People’s Committee, a number of Vietnamese artists and a number of expat cultural organizations in the country.
Artists from throughout Europe and Asia will perform a number of contemporary musical genres.
Monsoon's director, Quoc Trung, said that the organizers don't consider profit a priority. Instead, he said, they hope to change in both musical tastes and lifestyles of Vietnamese youth.
Promotional materials for the event encourage attendees not to litter.
Around 10,000 tickets were sold at quite a soft price of VND 80,000 (US $3,78).
The opening night of the event will be broadcast live on national television.
