An exhibition of lotus paintings by Nguyen Thi Dinh will run until June 7 at PUKU café in Hanoi.

"Lotus" depicts the growth cycle of lotus flowers, the changing of nature, the movement of time, and the relations between new and old.

According to a press release from the organizer, in Buddhism, "the lotus flower is known as the symbol of purity and spiritual awakening as well as a sign of rebirth."

"The flower is considered pure as it is able to emerge from murky water in the morning and be perfectly clean."

"The paintings of lotus show light sadness but still strongly represent the beliefs in life, people as well as in our beautiful life and future. Though, we have to face a lot of difficulties in our life, we have to look forward to nice future," says the release.

May and June is the most beautiful time for lotus flowers in Hanoi's lakes, and the lotus is also considered Vietnam's national flower and symbol.

The exhibition, opened on May 24, is located at 16-18 Tong Duy Tan Street.
