A conference on Vietnamese village regulations will take place on June 20 at L'Espace in Hanoi, according to a Saturday press release from the French cultural center.
History professor Bui Xuan Dinh from the Ethnology Institute and professor Dinh Khac Thuan of the Han-Nom Institute, Vietnam Social and Science Academy will conduct the discussion.
The village regulations "exist together with the (other) laws, and used to be tools to administer traditional Vietnamese societies. They still play an important role in the development of Vietnamese villages," the release says.
The event will address several issues including the origins of village regulations; different types of regulations; content of the regulations; role and impacts of village regulations on the traditional Vietnamese society; and regulation issues at present.
The discussion will be held in Vietnamese and French with simultaneous interpretation.
L'Espace is located on 24 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi. Entrance to the event is free.
