A special exhibition of bowls made during and prior to Vietnam's "Subsidy Era" (1976-1986) will be on display at Bookworm Too in Hanoi through July 31.

Opened on June 4, the blue and white functional ceramics being shown originated in small potteries in Bat Trang, Hai Duong and were by produced by ethnic Chinese in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh Province.

They are no longer produced and such bowls and planes have become a rarity. Most of the bowls have a unique character, said Bookworm Too's manager Nguyen Kien, who collected the pieces.

The pieces on display are for sale with all proceeds going to Kien, who started the collection a few years ago.

Bookworm Too is a book-themed cafe at the Agriculture University, located in Lane 1/28, Nghi Tam Village, Tay Ho District, Hanoi.

It hosts free readings and sells foreign language books such those written in English, French and German.
