In Dialogue with Đình (temple, communal house in village), an art exhibition, will open 5pm on September 20 at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in Hanoi.

According to a press release from the organizers, the exhibition directly examines Đình heritage in the Tonkin Delta. The theme of the exhibit is open, and it gives artists a chance to portray the value of the village community center and examine the role of cultural heritage in contemporary society.

It says that the artist's reflection upon the Đình heritage in different forms of art poses critical questions that relate to village heritage, including themes of the degradation, need for protection, and reverence for the beauty of cultural heritage in contemporary life.

Artworks reflecting these views will create positive influences and contribute to the development of the community, organizers hope.

Parallel to the exhibition, which runs until Oct 4, many other activities including seminars, art and heritage education sessions and publication will be held. All of these factors are expected to contribute to the success of a project of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts to research, collect, promote and develop the value of cultural heritage in Vietnam's northern delta.

An art talk will take place at 2.30pm on September 24 with artists Le Tran Hau Anh, Pham Duy, Luu Chi Hieu, Khong Do Tuyen, Dao Quoc Huy, and Vu Nhat Tan.

The Vietnam University of Fine Arts is located on 42 Yet Kieu Street, Hanoi.
