Graphic paintings from Southeast Asia on show

The first exhibition of graphic paintings by artists from Southeast Asian countries opened in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 45th founding anniversary of ASEAN, VietnamPlus reported.

The exhibition features 130 artworks done in five graphic styles, including screen, letterpress, and intaglio, the newswire said.

The works, created by 77 artists in the last five years, were selected through a competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with the embassies of ASEAN member countries in Vietnam and the Vietnamese embassies in the 10 ASEAN countries last month, according to the newswire.

Seventeen of the 245 entries also received awards. Young Thai female artist Aonrudee Pornchame was the winner, and Pham Khac Quang of Vietnam was second.

The exhibition will remain open until August 16 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh District.
