The Goethe Institute opened an exhibition of over 400 German books translated into Vietnamese in Hanoi on Wednesday in cooperation with the National Library of Vietnam, according to a press release.
The weeklong event aims to provide translators and experts in the publishing industry with a venue where they can meet and discuss publishing of translated versions of German books in Vietnam.
The expo comes as part of German Year in Vietnam and to mark the 35th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relationship.
A German non-profit cultural institution that operates worldwide, the Goethe Institute launched a project to introduce German works in Vietnamese at www.goethe.de/dbvue one year ago.
The website has so far recorded over 250 German works translated and published in Vietnam, most of which are literary works, according to the institute.
The display is held at the National Library of Vietnam at 31 Trang Thi Street, Hanoi.
