During this autumn, Goethe Institut in Vietnam is hosting cultural programs including a contemporary dance event in Hanoi and hosting the second annual German film festival in six cities in Vietnam.
"Death and the Maiden" is the name of the contemporary dance event, which takes place at Youth Theater in Hanoi on September 8 and 9.
Following the success of 2010's dance theater piece "Through the Valley," German choreographer Hans-Henning Paar will introduce "Death and the Maiden," a new dance performance paired with the ensemble of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB).
This dance is inspired and after the music of Der Tod und das Mädchen (Death and the Maiden), one of the most famous compositions of Franz Schubert.
Free tickets are available at Goethe Institut Hanoi, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi. Youth Theater Hanoi is located at 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hanoi.
Later in September, the second German film festival in Vietnam will take place from September 16 to October 16 in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, HCMC and Can Tho.
Both famous and young film directors will offer new perspectives and give insights into German life. The film festival will introduce ten films that portray dramatic, humorous, sad and incredible stories.
The first German film festival in Vietnam took place in 2010 and had around 19,200 participants.
