Friends celebrate Douglas Jardine in Hanoi

A celebration of the life of late historian and photographer, Douglas Jardine, will be held on Monday Nov 7 at the Hanoi Cinematheque.

The event provides an opportunity for those who did not have chance to say farewell to Jardine, who did suddenly of a heart attack on October 5. He was 49.

According to organizers, Jardine's close friends in Hanoi, the event will be a simple affair and will allow Douglas' friends to share memories about him.

Some of his excellent panoramic photographs of Long Bien Bridge will be for sale as well as a selection of smaller black and white prints of Hanoi and Sapa.

Food and drink will be for sale at the Cinematheque café.

Jardine, who had made Vietnam his home and was working at the faculty of International Studies at the Hanoi University, gave his last special lecture on the Long Bien Bridge on Sep 26 in Hanoi.
