Ho Chi Minh City's first exhibition of pastel art (using crayons) opened last Tuesday with 62 works by art teachers.

Named Nhung vien phan mau (Colorful chalks), the exhibition showcases everything from still life works to portraits done by five lecturers from the HCMC University of Fine Arts, which is organizing the 10-day event.

Organizers said the exhibition is a visual teaching tool for art students in addition to being a first step to help art lovers acquire the habit of buying publications as references for art techniques when works are sent to be published in a collection book.

The exhibition is open at the Gallery of Art, 5 Phan Dang Luu Street, Ward 3, Binh Thanh District.
