The amateur expat sketch comedy troupe Saigon Players is back in the spotlight with the 1-hour comedy cabaret "Miss-ed Saigon, mot lan nua!" now roving Ho Chi Minh City.
The performance, the title of which translates to "Miss-ed Saigon, one more time!", sketches out several awkward scenes in the lives of foreigners in Vietnam, each of which is made funny by its own cultural misunderstanding.
Meeting the parents, pre-wedding photos, job interviews, television shows and shopping at the supermarket are all part of the show as foreign characters attempt to navigate life in a foreign country.
The play's overstated humor aims to bring about both laughs and awareness, said the event's organizers.
The English plays, which opened March 2, will be performed around town until March 10. The amateur cast includes executives, teachers and other foreigners from all walks of life.
All proceeds earned from ticket sales (VND80,000 each) will be given to the Loreto Foundation's "˜Swim with a Vision' program.
All shows begin at 8 p.m. and no reservation is needed.
