A ceremony unveiling the English version of the book "Vietnamese Contemporary Arts" took place on July 28 at Trung Nguyen Book Coffee in Hanoi, reported Lao Dong newspaper that same day.

The book's introduction Saturday morning was attended by its two authors, art researchers Bui Nhu Huong and Pham Trung.

"Vietnamese Contemporary Arts" provides views on the evolution of Vietnamese contemporary arts over the years, the distinct art genres, the role of contemporary arts in Vietnam and the stance of Vietnamese contemporary arts in the global art scene.

The meeting was also an opportunity for artists to introduce their works. The English version of the book Vietnamese Contemporary Arts 1990-2010, whose translation was sponsored by the Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF), came into being thanks to the efforts of a group of authors with a simple idea: first of all gather information, and then make up for the lack of understanding regarding this research area.

The comprehensive treatise on Vietnamese contemporary arts, complete with illustrations, gives readers information regarding unique art that has taken place in Vietnam over the past 20 years.

The book includes three parts: contemporary arts conceptually; contemporary arts in practice; and the artwork of featured artists.
