Vietnamese-Australian guitarist Le Tuyen Nguyen and Indian-American percussionist Salil Sachdev will perform their latest compositions at HCMC's Conservatory of Music on January 7.
Supported by the Australian National University and HCMC's Conservatory of Music, the concert will feature new works written for guitar and percussion inspired by Vietnamese traditional folk songs as well as other music genres.
Sharing the stage on Friday with Tuyen and Sachdev will be teachers and students of the Conservatory's National Music department.
Le Tuyen is currently the music specialist of the Creative Arts Council of the New South Wales Department of Education and Training, Australia.
His compositions, Nocturne (1996) and Fantasia (1999), employs a technique he has developed called the staccato-harmonic duotone sounds two tones on one string at the same time.
Salil Sachdev chairs the music department at Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts. According to the university website: "He has composed music for a variety of media and including the orchestra, percussion, piano, theater, voice, and electronic music."
