Vietnam's own version of Dancing with the Stars, in which celebrities and professional dancers are paired up and pitted against each other in dancing competitions, will hit local airwaves this month.

In the hit celebrity dance competition, named Buoc nhay hoan vu (Universal Steps) in Vietnamese, singers Siu Black, Doan Trang, and Quang Vinh, actress Ngo Thanh Van, actors Luong Manh Hai and Minh Beo, and models Vu Hoang Diep and Tien Doan will be paired with professional dancers from the US and Bulgaria to perform Ballroom and Latin dance.

The show will have eight episodes April 11 to June 20, after each of which viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite celebrity.

The votes count for 50 percent of the score while the judges' opinions make up the rest.

The following night, the couple with the lowest score is eliminated. The winner of the show receives a shiny disco ball trophy and VND150 million (US$7,872). Renowned sport dancers Khanh Thi and Chi Anh, and film directors Le Hoang and Nguyen Quang Dung, will be the Vietnamese show's judges.
