More than 200 local artist will present diverse traditional genres of music to celebrate this year's Vietnam Stage Day in Ho Chi Minh City on September 9.
Hoa Ha, director of the HCMC Stage Association said at a press conference on Sept. 1 that the event will include performances of don ca tai tu (traditional folk music from the south), the 800-year-old quan ho (folk music from the north), hat a dao (an ancient genre of chamber music featuring female vocalists, with origins in northern Vietnam), and circuses.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Military Theater, 140 Cong Hoa, Tan Binh Dist., and broadcast live on HTV1.
A procession carrying the incense offering altar of stage founder to the theater from the city stage artists' association will begin at 4p.m. the same day.
The Vietnam Stage's Day is also being marked by a photo exhibition on artists and their outstanding performances in the city.
