Galerie Quynh unveiled the works of Nguyen Trung, among Vietnam's most accomplished artists, in Ho Chi Minh City Thursday.
The exhibition "˜Grey White Black' features a large collection of works inspired by urban cityscapes.
Since his last exhibition of monochromatic blackboard paintings in 2004, the 60-year-old artist has been experimenting with minimalist colors on canvas.
While the previous textured abstract works were more somber and focused on crumbling facades, the new paintings take the viewers on a walk through a familiar city revealing its undiscovered details.
A monograph on Nguyen Trung with texts by Dr. Nora Taylor, professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and art historian Boi Tran Huynh-Beattie is due to be published in 2011.
The exhibition is on at the contemporary art gallery at 65 De Tham Street, District 1 until February 26.
It is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday.
