Actress Ly Nha Ky, goodwill ambassador for Operation Smile in Vietnam, has get another reason to smile.
Her charity work has found her a foster mother - Hong Kong billionaire Alice Chiu, founder and director of the Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation.
Ever since she participated in the charity events with Operation Smile Inc. alongside Jackie Chan last November, Chiu's attention had been drawn to the charming Vietnamese ambassador, who she found "smart, sharp, dynamic and surprisingly kind-hearted."
"I know that Ky is famous in Vietnam, and I think she can appeal to many people's generosity in charity campaigns," Chiu said.
Since becoming Chiu's foster daughter, Ky has taken on the role of Vice President of the International Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation and President of its Vietnam chapter.
Ky said that she and Chiu have an incredibly close connection, while Chiu believes, in a previous incarnation, she would have been Ky's mother.
The foster mom and daughter duo are going to open the foundation in Hanoi in May.
Ky said that she will devote the first half of 2010 to charity works, before taking part in the TV series Noi tinh yeu bat dau (Where love begins) in June.
She became popular after playing the lead roles in the TV series Kieu nu va dai gia (Beauties and big cheeses), Gio nghich mua (Unreasonable wind). The 27-yearold is also the owner of three private companies in real estate, communications and event management.
