The HCMC Book Festival has drawn tens of thousands of people since it opened March 15 at HCMC's Le Van Tam Park.
The sixth annual festival called "Books Knowledge Integration and Development" aims to foster a culture of reading in the burgeoning metropolis, said Nguyen Thanh Tai, vice chairman of HCMC People's Committee.
Tai said the fair also represented the strong growth of the local publishing industry and the attention foreign publishers from Britain, France, Germany, the US, and China were now paying to Vietnam.
The biennial event gathered more than 200,000 book titles with nearly 20 million copies sold at 471 pavilions.
The festival also introduced an exhibition of more than 100 photos and books on Hanoi to welcome the celebration of the capital's 1,000th anniversary.
The book fair will close on March 21.
