Australian team Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics was named the champion of the 2015 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition on Wednesday evening.
The team, ranked third in the 2009 competition, showcased a spectacular performance named “The Symphony of Colors” in 21 minutes.
The second prize went to Poland’s Surex Firma Rodzinna, while Pyrotecnico from the US and the host team Danang Fireworks both won the third prize.
Fireworks for Africa, a 19-year-old team from South Africa and the youngest among the contestants this year, got the consolation prize.
The 2015 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The competition used to be held every year until the city government decided to give it a break last year and turned it into a biennial event.
A statement from the city’s tourism department said having one year off is one of the factors for the rise in visitor numbers this year.
It said around 450,000 visitors stayed in the city during the event, 14 percent up from 2013.
