Bran Nue Dae, the film adaptation of a 1990 musical of the same name, was screened at the RMIT University Vietnam on Thursday.

An Australian consulate press release said the film was shown as part of the NAIDOC Week 2010 organized in July around Australia and other countries to celebrate the history and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The event seeks to highlight Australian indigenous culture, tradition and humour, the statement said.

The film, set to be released in the US in September, has won many awards including the Melbourne International Film Festival award and an Audience award for Best Feature Film.

RMIT University Vietnam is located at the Saigon South Campus in District 7.
