ASEAN Today, a 30-minute TV program on Southeast Asia highlighting the region's cultural diversity and other attractions was aired Oct 30 on Indonesia's Metro TV channel.
Presented by Indonesia's Dalton Tanonaka, the monthly show made its debut with Vietnamese traditional music, the coffee industry in Laos, and the world's best diving spot in Indonesia.
Tanonaka and Yvonne Yong from Channel News Asia in Singapore also presented information about preparations for the 19th ASEAN Summit in Bali, Indonesia on Nov 17.
ASEAN Today, co-produced by Metro TV, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Indonesia, and airline sponsor AirAsia, will be aired in other Southeast Asian countries in the near future.
At present, the program's content is provided by broadcasters in each of the member countries.
The program aims to promote diverse aspects of the Southeast Asian region including culture, tourism, environment and development policies.
