The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has launched a painting contest, themed unification to mark 45 years of its establishment.
A press release by the ASEAN secretariat says the contest, "ASEAN: One Community, One Destiny," aims to popularize the group's operations among young people and encourage them to join the big anniversary celebration.
It is open to all young citizens from the ten member nations. The contestants, divided in two age groups, 6-12 and 13-18, will start vying at the national level. They have to "give an idea of unification and solidarity to their works."
Two best paintings from the age groups from each country will be selected for the regional level contest, where paintings will be voted for by all citizens from the bloc by clicking "Like" on the paintings at www.facebook.com/asean-secretariat.
The contest will last until this July, before the group celebrates its 45th birthday on August 8.
Winners will receive a certificate signed by ASEAN General Secretary, books, souvenirs and US$500.
National winners will receive similar awards and $100.
