Vietnam Television VTV9 and the Bac Dau Entertainment Company on Friday started receiving applicants from contestants for Vietnam's first-ever male beauty pageant.
Ngo Tien Doan, representative of the organizers and Mister International 2008, told a press conference the same day that the contest would be different from male model competitions as it considers more than the physical body of the contestants.
He said the winner of the pageant will represent Vietnamese men with all the needed characteristics - confident, fashionable, strong and elegant - to vie for the Mister International 2011 crown.
From November 12 to December 12, the organizers will receive applications and shortlist 30 men for the final round from December 15 to January 1.
Supporting labels in the contest will include Mr. Gentlemen, Mr. Sports, Mr. Talent, Mr. Environment, and Mr. Knowledge.
The final round of the Mister Vietnam 2010 contest will take place in the southern town of Vung Tau aon January 1, 2011. It will be broadcast live on VTV9, VTV4, and RTV channels.
The winner of the competition will get a cash prize of VND750 million (US$38,500).
Judges in the pageant include former vice president Truong My Hoa, historian Duong Trung Quoc, anthropologist Tham Hoang Diep, deputy chairman Hoang Dai Thanh of the Vietnam Models Association , beauty queen Truong Ngoc Anh, model Thanh Hang, and the winner of the Mister International 2010 pageant.
The Mister International 2010 contest will be held in Indonesia on November 20.
