The groundbreaking ceremony of the pricey San Ho (Coral) theater will take place on December 10 in coastal town of Phan Rang in Ninh Thuan province.

The theater, whose investor is the Thanh Nien Media Corporation, will cover an area of 4 hectares with capacity from 1,500 to 2,000 seats. The theater will be shell-shaped with a curvy roof, resembling a wave.

In addition to the central theater, Coral will be multipurpose venue, with a performing arts centre that will include an entertaining zone, shopping mall and restaurants designed to serve local and international tourists alike.

According to Thanh Nien Media Corporation, the project will cost between US$ 10 to 15 million; completion of construction is scheduled for August 2012.

San Ho  will serve both national and international cultural and sporting events such as Duyen dang Viet Nam (Charming Vietnam,) Miss Vietnam and possibly Miss Earth 2012, which is already slated to take place in Ninh Thuan province.

However, Nguyen Cong Khe, chairman of Thanh Nien Media Corporation, has not confirmed whether  the Miss Earth 2012 pageant will take place at the Coral theater or not.

He says that it will take some time to finalize arrangements with the Philippines's Carousel Productions Inc., which founded the international beauty contest, as well as submit the project to the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

The issue will be officially resolved by the end of this year or early 2012.
