Vietnamese gymnasts Phan Thi Ha Thanh and Nguyen Ha Thanh won two gold and one silver medal at the Challenge Cup Grand Prix in the Czech Republic on Saturday.
Vietnam’s best female gymnast, Ha Thanh won gold in the women’s singles vault event after scoring 13,963 points, ahead of silver winner Barbara Achondo and bronze medalist Makarena Pinto, both of Chile.
London Olympian Ha Thanh, 21, had won a bronze in the same event at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo in October, 2011 and struck gold at the Senior Asian Artistic Championships in Fujian, China earlier this month.
In the men’s vault event, Nguyen Ha Thanh scored 15,875 points to win the gold medal ahead of silver medalist Marek Lyszczars of Poland who had 15,450 points and Michael Fussenegger of Austria who won the bronze medal with 15,425 points.
Thanh then won the silver medal in the men’s parallel bars after scoring 15,275 points, just 175 points behind the gold winner from Ukraine, Oleg Verniaiev.
Ten days earlier, at the Senior Asian Artistic Championships in Fujian, China, Thanh scored 15,350 points to win the silver medal in the men’s parallel bars and 15,750 points to take bronze in the men’s vault event.
Pham Phuoc Hung, another London Olympian, also participated in the men’s parallel bars at the November 22-24 event in the Czech Republic, but could not put in a medal winning performance.
